Attendance Registers

  • The attendance register is your single, most important control document as we are able to ascertain if, and when, students are attending lecturers.

  • Attendance registers  are collected from the AOA (Manco for Diplomas, Higher Certificates and TBS and Thandeka for Internal and External Degrees).

  • The register is to be circulated in class at the commencement of each session and students sign as proof of attendance. There after the lecturer is to perform a headcount reconciliation against the signatures.

  • A line should be drawn through the signature area of those students who are late for class, as to prevent them from signing-in afterwards. If a student leaves before the session has ended, please indicate this on the register.

  • If no students attend the scheduled class, the lecturer is required to wait in the classroom for at least the first session. The lecturer should then indicate on the lecturer session report that no students attended class and that the contact time was only one session.

  • The regular absenteeism of a student should be reported the the AOA via email, who will in turn report this the the AOC/ADC.

  • Lecturers are required to complete a lecturer session report after each lecture, which is availible from the lecturers lounge. This report, together with the attendance register needs to be placed in the intray on Manco's table. This report is a pre-requisite for VC to process lecturer claims.
